Goat

The goat is one of the 12 zodiac animals in the Chinese Lunar calender. It is pronounced as yang （羊）and is a  homophone for the masculine or positive principle, yang (阳）in nature. A picture of three goats refers to number 11 of the 64 hexagram, san yan kai tai (三阳开泰). San yan refers to the first 3 yang month of the lunar calender and kai tai means usher peace.  It symbolises peace and the great and good approach - ie good fortune and success. Since the Han Dynasty, it is considered an auspicious symbol as it is a homophone for xiang (祥）ie auspicious.
