Quail

The quail is usually used on chinese motif for rebus design.  The chinese word for quail is an chun (ðÆðÈ£©which sounds like peaceful existence (°²´æ).  One common design shows 9 quails with chrysanthemum which symbolises nine generations live together in peace.  The chrysanthemum is pronounced as ju (¾Õ£©which sounds to remain£¯live (¾Ó£©.

Another common design depicts quails and bamboo.  In chinese, bamboo is pronounced as zhu (Öñ£©which is a homophone for 'to wish' (×££©.  Hence, the design symbolise a wish for peace.
